5. James3 Knox (John2, Mr.1)(4) was born in Schenectady, NY 26 December 1766. James died 5 Jan 1821 Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY, at 54 years of age.

He married Nancy Ehle Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY, 6 December 1784. Nancy was born 27 September 1767. Nancy was the daughter of Mr. Ehle. Nancy died 19 June 1821 Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY, at 53 years of age.

He moved 1791 Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY. The following individual is also linked to this event: Jacob Ehle (companion). According to Reynolds, he is the progenitior of the Knox families of Montgomery, Fulton and Oneida counties, New York.

James Knox and Nancy Ehle had the following children:

child 7 ii. Elizabeth Knox was born Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY 1 Jan 1794. Elizabeth died 7 February 1889 in Knoxville, Knox, IL, at 95 years of age. She moved 1838 in Knoxville, Knox, IL. She resided in Knoxville, Knox, IL 5 September 1850. She lived in the home of her brother James Knox.

child 8 iii. Catherine Knox was born Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY Abt June 1796.(5) Her tombstone in the Knox Family Plot, Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, IL says she was 62 years and 9 months old when she died. Catherine died 10 March 1859 in Knoxville, Knox, IL, at 62 years of age. She married John Taylor. (See John Taylor for the continuation of this line.)

child 9 iv. Hermann Knox was born Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY 1798. Hermann died 9 May 1841 in Knoxville, Knox, IL, at 42 years of age. He moved 1822.

child + 10 v. William Knox was born After August 1802.

child 11 vi. James Knox was born Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY 4 July 1807. James died 9 October 1876 in Knoxville, Knox, IL, at 69 years of age. His body was interred Oct 1876 in Knoxville, Knox, IL, Knoxville Cemetery. He married Prudence Blish in Knoxville, Knox, IL, 20 Jan 1841. Prudence was born in Connecticut 26 March 1822. Prudence died 19 March 1846 in Knoxville, Knox, IL, at 23 years of age.

James graduated in New Haven, CT, 1830. Institution: Yale University. He moved 1836 Canajoharie, Montgomery, NY.(6) James was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census in Knoxville, Knox, IL.
